What drives the price
Hire cost is usually built from four things: how long you need the unit, how many units you need, the cooling capacity of each unit, and whether delivery and collection are included in the headline price.
Short hires tend to carry a higher daily rate than longer ones, because the delivery and collection effort is the same whether a unit is out for three days or a month.
Hire versus buying outright
If you only need cooling for a handful of hot weeks a year, hiring avoids the storage problem and the upfront outlay. If you expect to run a unit for most of the summer every year, buying can work out cheaper over time — but you then own the maintenance, the storage and the disposal.
